Youth Ministries & Youth Events

Picture
Vacation Bible School, 2014
Our youth ministry team promotes attendance and participation in functions that are educational and yet fun and engaging to young people.  We accept the challenge of making God’s Word and living for Him something that our young people will embrace.  We strive to encourage our youth to remember that even when they feel no one understands or loves them, God does.  We want to assist them to develop an unwavering belief in God.  We realize that we can be assured of leaving an impression with every young person with whom we come in contact, and it is up to us whether that impression is positive or negative.  We encourage all the members of our church to be good examples to our youth, someone they can look up to.

Our youth meet every Wednesday evening.  They are responsible for the set up and clean up of the first Wednesday Night Fellowship dinner of every month.  The proceeds from that night’s dinner are donated to the youth group.  These funds, along with the proceeds of other fundraising events, help to pay for the activities undertaken on behalf of the children.  We schedule outings and events for the benefit of the youth.  Some of these events include the following:

  • zoo trips
  • trips to the local corn maze in the fall
  • overnight lock-ins at the church
  • progressive dinners
  • bowling
  • pizza parties
  • youth game days
  • trunk or treat for Halloween
  • birthday bashes
  • youth presentations for Mothers/Fathers day
  • car washes
  • bonfires
  • weenie roasts

The acolytes are selected from within the youth group.  Acolytes receive instruction on their role in the worship service and fulfill their duties according to a posted schedule.  Also, youth who meet the criteria are chosen to serve as junior deacons in our church.  As a junior deacon, the youth assist in the service of communion during the worship service and they hold a position on the official board of the church.  To learn more, please contact Sandy Younger at (870) 945-0155.
